SCIVATION XTEND REVIEW
Scivation Xtend is a BCAA blend that contains 7g of the essential amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine in the ratio 2:1:1. The product also contains Citrulline Malate (1:1), Glutamine, and electrolytes. Each serving has 3 1/2g of Leucine, which is a key player when it comes to muscle growth. The other two amino acids, Isoleucine, and Valine, can serve as an important energy source during exercise, especially if you train fasted or your workout sessions are longer than an hour. These BCAAs have also been shown to speed up the recovery process and reduce muscle soreness post-workout.
CITRULLINE MALATE BENEFITS
This product also contains Citrulline Malate which can help to reduce fatigue during your workouts by serving as an intramuscular buffer in reducing the accumulation of lactate and ammonia. Lactate and ammonia are two metabolic byproducts that can accumulate during intense exercise. They can also cause your pH level of your muscle to drop, making it difficult to keep up your strength. If you can prevent the drop in pH, you can delay fatigue and get more reps and sets in during your workout. Citrulline Malate may also help with the reduction in post-exercise muscle soreness.
L-Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid, meaning your body cannot keep up with Glutamine production under special circumstances (usually a strenuous workout). When this happens, you have to use L-Glutamine supplementation to avoid a significant drop in Glutamine levels in the bloodstream. Add to this the fact that L-Glutamine is the building block of proteins in the body, and it clearly becomes an imperative to keep your L-Glutamine levels at or above the normative threshold.
One of L-Glutamine’s main benefits is to preserve, build, and maintain the muscle tissue – but more on that later. For now, let’s focus on how and why this amino acid benefits the other areas of the body.
L-GLUTAMINE HELPS WITH:
Gastrointestinal health by allowing the intestines to repair and rebuild
Leaky gut, thanks to its ability to act as a band-aid in order to prevent any additional damage
Memory and focus, by acting as an essential neurotransmitter upon supplementation
Athletic performance, by allowing the muscles to work harder to meet the additional toll of an intense exercise
Bowel movement, by controlling the mucus production in the body
…and much more. Now, remember how we said that L-Glutamine is a major factor in keeping the muscles up and ready to go at any given time
L-GLUTAMINE ALIMENTATION IN CATABOLIC STATE
Glutamine is one of the most important amino acids that mobilises itself to fulfill the energy needs after severe and unexpected stress (such as that after a strenuous workout). To this extent, Glutamine mimics the functions of the preferred respiratory fuel for lymphocytes, hepatocytes, and intestinal mucosal cells to enable better acclimation to prolonged stress. In fact, low levels of Glutamine in plasma lead to greater chance of injury or disease, while the opposite leads to a better health and overall well-being.
XTEND BCAA SIDE EFFECTS
Taking XTEND BCAA has not lead to any reported side effects thus far. Be sure to adhere to the recommended dosage when deciding to include XTEND BCAA into your diet.
ADVANTAGES OF TAKING BCAAS SUPPLEMENTS
We recommend BCAAs for anyone. In our opinion, they should be in everyone's supplement stack. When used during workouts, they can help you train longer, harder, and with more intensity. People even use BCAAs while they're not training. They add the perfect amount of flavour to water, which helps to make sure you get in enough fluid to keep you hydrated. It also helps to prevent any sweet tooth and can keep you from snacking on junk food.
BENEFITS OF L-LEUCINE
L-Leucine is an essential amino acid -- part of the branched-chain amino acids along with L-Isoleucine and L-Valine. This compound is of the utmost importance for muscle growth, because it has been proven to trigger muscle protein synthesis like no other compound.
L-Leucine Provides A Variety of Benefits
As said, L-Leucine is as essential amino acid, which means that our bodies cannot produce this compound on their own. In fact, L-Leucine reserves in the body get absolutely shredded during (and after) a hard and long exercise session. This is why it’s so important to replenish L-Leucine reserves through a dietary supplement regimen that contains a solid amount of BCAAs. The second option is getting L-Leucine from leucine-rich foods, but this is proven as impractical because it takes way longer for these foods to break down into smaller chunks until you get the desired results.
Secondly, L-Leucine is the most abundant branched-chain amino acid in muscles out of the three (the other two being L-Isoleucine and L-Valine). This fact makes L-Leucine the most warranted essential amino acids among bodybuilders worldwide.
Thirdly, BCAAs comprise a large percentage of muscle tissue and are unique because of their property to be the only amino acids that can be burned as fuel during an intense physical bout. Consequently, this leads to decreased levels of both blood BCAA and muscle BCAA levels after a workout.
L-Leucine activates muscle protein synthesis
Whether your goal is to build muscle, or prevent muscle loss -- activating muscle protein synthesis should be your priority number one. But how does L-Leucine help in stimulating muscle protein synthesis to work in overload?
Firstly, it has been shown that blood amino acid levels are directly proportional to the building of muscle, which antecedes muscle protein synthesis. In simple terms, this basically means that in order for muscle protein synthesis to occur -- you have to have solid amounts of BCAAs (mostly L-Leucine) in your blood beforehand.
L-Leucine activates the mTOR pathway
L-Leucine activates the mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) pathway in the muscles, which is one of the most important compounds in regards to building lean muscle mass. In particular, mTOR acts as a molecular button that switches on the processes that lead to the body providing more proteins for the muscles. Therefore, L-Leucine serves two purposes: it provides all the necessary steps for muscle protein synthesis to occur, and it regulates the muscle building process as well. Bottom line, including more L-Leucine into your nutritional plan can prove as an effective strategy to optimize muscle anabolism before, during, and after strenuous training.
L-Leucine protects your muscles
L-Leucine protects both against muscle and weight loss as well. A study from the University of Illinois subjected a group to a diet containing 10 grams of L-Leucine, 125 grams of protein, with a minimum of 2.5 grams of L-Leucine at each meal. The results showed that the groups who consumed leucine-rich diets experienced greater preservation in lean muscle mass. Plus, those same groups had a better glucose control when compared to the control group.
