THE BENEFITS OF WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE

Whey Whip Protein Balls contain a solid amount of WPI (Whey Protein Isolate) to promote healthy weight, more energy, stronger muscles, and a number of other health benefits and perks. These facts mainly occur because of WPIs high concentration of essential amino acids which are crucial for a healthy development of the body. And not only that, but these amino acids (also absorbed quickly by the body) help to promote denser bones, greater athletic performance, and the ability to maintain an explosive physicality during a workout.

Why Protein? What is it?

Whey protein is a combination of different protein types isolated from whey. Whey on the other hand is the liquid part of milk which gets separated during the production of cheese. In fact, milk is known to contain two different protein types: casein and whey. Casein makes up about 80 percent of milk, while whey makes up around 20 percent. Furthermore, whey is located in the watery parts of the milk; therefore, during the production of cheese, the fatty portion of the milk undergoes a process called coagulation and the whey ends up being a by-product as it separates from the milk.

After the separating process occurs, whey is put through a series of additional steps to become whey protein – a highly potent powder used to promote health, fitness, and strength among professional athletes and weekend warriors as well.

Main Types of Whey Protein

Generally speaking, there are three main protein types:

  • Whey Protein Concentrate
  • Whey Protein Isolate (as featured in our Whey Whip Protein Ball), and
  • Whey Protein Hydrolysate

Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) contains up to 80% of protein. This protein type also contains lactose and additional fat.

Whey Protein Isolate (WPI) contains 90% of protein or higher. It also features less lactose and fat, and is a purer form of protein than WPC.

Whey Protein Hydrolysate is a type of protein that is absorbed the fastest out of the three protein types.

Whey Protein Supplementation Benefits

Chalking up whey protein has its many benefits, some of which include:

Whey Protein Boosts BCAA and Protein Intake

As most of you know, proteins are the building blocks of the body. In particular, proteins are made of much smaller molecules called amino acids, which in and of themselves are the building blocks of proteins. Together, amino acids form proteins, which in turn form all kinds of parts in the body, including muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, organs, and more.

Secondly, some of these amino acids can be made from within the body itself, while others must be acquired from a diverse diet. The former are called non-essential amino acids (sometimes conditionally-essential), and the ones that must be taken from foods are dubbed the essential amino acids.

Thirdly, a major part of the essential amino acids are the BCAAs (branched-chain amino acids). These amino acids are three in total and include L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, and L-Valine. The most exciting out of the three BCAAs is L-Leucine, since it kick-starts what’s known as the mTOR pathway (mammalian target of rapamycin). MTOR is considered as one of the most important signaling pathways in wake of regulating skeletal muscle anabolism (or muscle and bone growth). On top of that, Whey Protein Isolate also contains a solid amount of Cysteine, which is a much-needed amino acid linked to improved athletic ability and greater overall well-being.

Finally, Cysteine can also play a major role in boosting Glutathione levels, a cellular antioxidant that protects the cells (and consequently the body) from damage done by free radicals and other toxic by-products as well.

Whey Protein Promotes Greater Muscle Mass and Improves Strength

Whey Protein Isolate is probably best known for its ability to boost energy, increase muscle mass, stimulate muscle growth, and increase athletic ability and physical strength. In fact, WPI is used by hundreds of thousands of professional athletes coming from a variety of backgrounds, including professional bodybuilders, fitness models, sport daredevils, crossfit trainers, and more. To this extent, the main perks of WPI supplementation on strength and muscle growth include:

  • WPI provides the main building blocks for muscle and bone, therefore building and strengthening these areas by a significant scope of a margin
  • WPI (and Whey protein in general) facilitates the release of anabolic hormones (such as insulin), which consequently lead to muscle growth
  • WPI contains high amounts of L-Leucine, a well-known stimulator of muscle protein synthesis at both the molecular and genetic level
  • WPI is absorbed quite fast by the body and can be utilised better than the other non-whey protein types

Particularly, WP is at its most effective when taken right before, during, or after an exercise, with it being most useful for muscle growth just short after resistance exercise.

Whey Protein Facilitates Satiety and Helps to achieve Weight Loss

It has been proven that protein can boost the metabolism by 80 to 100 calories per day, which in turn makes individuals eat fewer calories on a daily basis. In addition, another study has found that eating 25% more protein leads to cutting junk-food cravings by up to 60%, and also reduces the desire for late-time snacks as well. Plus, including more protein into your diet can in actuality help you with managing your weight, or even lose that stubborn fat. Thus, Whey Protein supplements can play a major role both in persevering (or increasing) your muscle mass AND maintaining your weight all at the same time.
