Viper Glutamine is an advanced, micronised, pharmaceutical-grade product designed to improve your physicality in a no-nonsense way. Plus, this glutamine supplement is completely flavourless and mixes very easily in your preferred beverage or post-workout shake.
In addition, the sports science is crystal clear: Glutamine is one of the most important components of muscle protein, which helps repair, build, and maintain muscle. In fact, supplementing with as much as five grams of glutamine daily will lead to a better physical recovery, and help you to repair the muscle fibres damages during a strenuous workout. But, that’s not the whole story.
THE MANY BENEFITS OF L-GLUTAMINE
L-Glutamine (Glutamine) is an amino acid, and is, in fact, the most abundant amino acid in the bloodstream. L-Glutamine also makes up about 30-35% of nitrogen in the body as well. This fact makes L-Glutamine a conditionally-essential amino acid, since the body utilises it in large amounts. In addition, a conditionally-essential amino acid means that the body can make L-Glutamine on its own, but it depletes it quickly after certain triggers such as a strenuous exercise. This is why it’s very important (especially for trainers) to include L-Glutamine supplementation into your diet.
In short, L-Glutamine can help trainers to achieve better physical health, including:
- Lose weight and burn fat
- Build muscle
- Repair gut issues
- Promote better brain health
- Improve athletic performance
- Improve overall health and well-being
- Balance blood sugar levels
- In particular, here are the main benefits of L-Glutamine:
L-Glutamine Repairs Digestive Tract Issues
Leaky gut syndrome is a chronic condition that can have a major negative impact on your health, and for those affected, it can lead to the development of other autoimmune conditions such as thyroid problems or psoriasis. Here’s where L-Glutamine enters into play.
L-Glutamine is one of the major factors of promoting good health for cells located in the small intestine (as shown in several clinical studies). In fact, a study published in a renowned medical journal called Lancet showed promising results in favour of L-Glutamine supplementation. In the study, 20 patients were randomly picked and later subjected to parenteral nutrition comprised of either glycyl-L-glutamine (Gln TPN), or normal parenteral nutrition without the glutamine part. The results showed that the patients administered with a glutamine-enriched parenteral nutrition exhibited little to no deterioration of gut permeability – in direct contrast with the patients of the other group.
Plus, another study from the British Journal of Surgery has examined L-Glutamine and its effects in regards to ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease. Scientifically speaking, the scientists studied the effects of oral glutamine on gut mucosal ornithine decarboxylase activity and on endotoxin levels in the blood. Or in other words, they looked the results in regards to gut and bloodstream health after a glutamine-enriched diet; what they found is a positive correlation between this diet and patients affected by inflammatory bowel disease.
L-Glutamine Boosts Up the Immune System
This amino acid is a very active fighter in response to a number of different autoimmune conditions, including underactive thyroid, joint pain, Crohn’s disease, Hashimoto’s disease, and more. This is strong evidence in regards to including L-Glutamine into your diet (since it can fend off or alleviate the majority of these diseases and their symptoms thereafter).
Secondly, it has been shown that L-Glutamine provides additional benefits for the body by the regulation of the so-called IgA immune response. IgA is a compound that plays a major role in fending off viruses and harmful bacteria in the body. And not only that, but IgA is also linked to alleviating allergies and some food sensitivities as well.
Thirdly and finally, a study from the medicinal journal of Clinical Immunology has found that L-Glutamine plays a crucial role in regulating the effects of the so-called TH2 immune response, which in turn prevents the creation of inflammatory cytokines.
In particular, the scientists stimulated peripheral blood mononuclear cells with either PHA (phytohemagglutinin), measles virus, or BCG (bacillus Calmette-Guérin) in the presence of different types of glutamine concentrations. The results showed that an optimal glutamine concentration (0.6 mM) significantly improved the so-called PHA-stimulated lymphocyte proliferation, interleukin-2, Th1 and Th2 production as well.
In contrast, the same study found that the absence of glutamine decreases lymphocyte proliferation in the presence of measles, meaning it negatively impacts the immune system in the face of a biological danger (i.e. viruses and bacteria). To conclude, L-Glutamine immensely helps in protecting the body against different external attacks, some of which include viruses, bacteria, allergies, and more.
L-Glutamine Improves Athletic Performance
Perhaps one of L-Glutamine’s main roles is to rid the body of high ammonia levels, fast. In fact, this amino acid serves as a facilitator to convert excess ammonia into amino sugars, amino acids, and urea – as supported by this study.
Additionally, doing a rigorous workout for approx. one hour can deplete the L-Glutamine reserves in the body for as much as 40 percent. This can lead to an impaired immune function and may possibly lead to overtraining syndrome as well.
Finally, L-Glutamine provides a major positive impact among long-distance trainers by boosting the so-called T-helper cells, which are major players in reducing stress caused by overtraining syndrome.
L-Glutamine Provides Immense Benefits to Bodybuilders
Whether you want to increase anabolic response (building muscle), boost your metabolism, or improve your strength – research has shown that L-Glutamine is one of the surest way to go.
A study on the effects of glutamine on whole-body carb storage has come to very promising results in regards to this compound. In it, subjects were divided into three groups, which covered either glutamine, glutamine & placebo, or just glucose polymer solution drinks. The groups that took glutamine showed a significant increase in muscle glycogen facilitation and carbohydrate storage in the liver as well. This shows how L-Glutamine supplementation benefits those who undergo tough exercise regimens and keeps these trainers from injury-free.
