EHP LABS PSI REVIEW:
PSI raises the standard for non-stimulant pre-workouts, as this product features a scientifically researched formula to ensure that everything goes according to plan. Fact is, PSI pre-workout is known to promote focus, mental clarity, and serotonin release in the body as well. All of this happens thanks to the optimal taurine to tyrosine ratio as featured in the EHP Labs PSI Vasodilator Nutrient Delivery Maximizer pre-workout.
EHP LABS PSI FEATURES THE FOLLOWING CORE INGREDIENTS:
First off, Citrulline and Malate are different compounds which can bond together and form Citrulline Malate. Citrulline is an amino acid which gets produced in two main ways: first, citrulline is produced when ornithine (another amino acid) is combined with carbamoyl phosphate. All of this takes place during the urea cycle, or the process when the body gets rid of excess nitrogen. In fact, citrulline hastens the urea cycle and “sponges” up the ammonia (three molecules of nitrogen) made by active muscles before it can cause any kind of damage or fatigue.
The second way the body can produce citrulline is through the conversion of arginine into NO (nitric oxide). Citrulline is formed as a byproduct of this process, after which it enters the body and raises arginine levels by significant amounts. In turn, increased arginine levels lead to greater NO production, which is absolutely crucial for optimal nutrient delivery to working muscles.
Malate on the other hand (malic acid), is a compound found in apples and other fruit which contributes to their sour taste. This compound can bind with citrulline and form Citrulline Malate, which is more stable than either citrulline or malate alone.
Citrulline Malate Benefits
During intense physical exertion, pH levels in the muscles rapidly drop, the muscles become acidic, and trainers start to experience fatigue. Citrulline Malate supplementation clears the excess ammonia delays this rapid pH drop, therefore offsetting muscle fatigue as well.
Additionally, Citrulline Malate has also been shown to play a major role in reducing muscular fatigue and soreness after high-volume weight training. Plus, Citrulline Malate can also delay and reduce the body’s immunosuppressive mechanisms following an intense and demanding exercise. This fact suggests that Citrulline Malate can be the perfect answer to a variety of symptoms often lumped together as “overtraining”.
Taurine (or L-Taurine) is an amino acid that contains sulfur molecules. This compound plays a key role in the proper development and protection of cells in mammals. Taurine can be produced in the body in limited amounts – therefore it is categorized as a conditionally essential amino acid (the other two types are essential and non-essential amino acids). In fact, taurine deficiency can lead to a number of preventable conditions and ailments such as premature birth, chronic liver and kidney disease, and cardiovascular problems among many others. This is where taurine supplementation comes into play.
L-Taurine has Antioxidant Properties
Scientifically speaking, the white blood cells produce the antioxidants HOBr (hypobromous acid) and HOCL (hypochlorous acid) in order to fight off against invading microorganisms and repel infections. Problem is, these oxidants can also cause harm to the cells of the body as well. L-Taurine “hunts” these potentially harmful oxidants and converts them into the less toxic TauBr (taurine bromamine) and TauCl (taurine chloramine). Both TauBr and TauCl have the ability to reduce the number of oxidants as produced by the white blood cells in the body. Plus, L-Taurine also increases the production of other antioxidant agents as well.
L-Taurine Reduces Inflammation
As stated, the main products of the antioxidant properties of taurine include TauBr and TauCl. Besides battling against free radical damage, these two compounds are also known to have anti-inflammatory properties. Supplementing with L-Taurine can increase and hasten the rate at which TauBr and TauCl are formed, which can be very effective against treating a number of inflammatory conditions, especially those categorized as acute. These acute inflammations can be caused by various irritants, damaged cells, infection, or even cancer. Therefore, it can be said that Taurine indirectly treats the symptoms of these conditions as well.
L-Taurine Protects the Heart
Taurine can be found in the blood vessels, as well as the heart, which is a clear indication of this compound’s importance for heath health. In a recent study, 22 healthy women were subjected to three grams of taurine on a daily basis in duration of four weeks. The results found that taurine supplementation resulted in a significant decrease in homocysteine levels among the participants. Homocysteine is a compound clearly related to the occurrence and incidence of heart disease, so taurine may play a major role in the prevention of heart attack, or even lower high cholesterol levels as well.
